I really want to do at least the windows accessed through the back yard because those are the ones that let most of the heat in ... does anyone know if there are HOA restrictions?

Anyone had them put on & like/dislike them?

There are no HOA restrictions on solar screens.

I'm having them put on next week, I'm tired of the high power bills, I'll let you know how they work for me...

There is a local guy (Providence) that installs them that I am using...

We used Lone Star Solar Screens. We've been very pleased with them. Ordering was simple and they were done quickly.

Hubby's office gets most of the sun during the day. Couple that with the electronics he's got running in there all day and that room gets much too warm. Since we've added the screens, he's had to half close the AC vent to that room because now he's almost too cold!

How expensive are they? We only have three windows on the west side of the house and would love to have them for those windows.

Thank you!

Was going to use Lonestar too -- have heard they do great work. I'll get an estimate this coming week then.

Texan -- can you post or IM the information for the guy that did yours? I'd like to talk to him too.

Thanks for this thread -- we are considering them also.

Is there anyone out there that doesn't like them?

We have solar screens and it has done very well with bring down the price of our electric bills. We have several people that have them in our neighborhood as well. I also think it makes our house look better than did before. Was not very expensive either. Send me an email with your phone number and will give you a call with the rest of the information. I will have to get there phone number and name for you.

Thank you so much, Christine. I went to their website to take a look and I think this will cut our bills even more. We put in the radiant barriar and more insulation last year and we have an Energy Star home. We noticed difference then, but this seems like an even more effective addition.

Does it help in the winter as well?

Yes they do very well all year long the time frame is about 3 to 4 days by the time they come to measure and then to install. You do not half to have all the windows done at the same time.

Enjoy,
